Sodam Hong (홍소담) is a Vancouver based Korean-Canadian Director and Production Designer with years of professional experience in the film industry. She has contributed to works screening at prestigious international film festivals such as the Whistler Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival, Chilliwack Independent Film Festival and the Canadian DGC Awards. Her commercial background has contributed to global brands such as National Geographic, Top 10 Kids, and Public Beacon. 

Branching off of her experiences, Sodam focuses on implementing meaningful environments in her storytelling techniques. Her approach to conceptualizing stories has allowed her to flourish in directing short films and commercials. Her most recent short dance film, ‘Motif’ (2026) is making global festival circuits, and she has internationally collaborated with brands such as Closet Children, Hikari no Yami and Wenjüe Lu. 

Inspired by youth culture and alternative identities, her work underlines underrepresented communities.

“I grew up surrounded by media and found it as a source of comfort. With creation and intention, I want to use film as a tool for communicating powerful and vulnerable feelings or experiences.”
